Presence over Presents: Christmas Day Gathering

This Christmas day, we invite you to join us in celebrating differently.
No tree, no tinsel, no pressure - just presence, connection, and community.

Why We Created This Event

A few years ago, we began to notice how commercialised and stressful Christmas can feel. For us, the joy of the season isn’t in gifts, cards, or the latest trend, it’s in coming together, slowing down, and sharing space with others.

Mudita means the joy in the wellbeing of others, and this resonates deeply with our approach to Christmas. While we could spend the day just the two of us, we prefer to open our home and wellbeing studio to friends, community members, and like-minded souls, creating a space for connection, creativity, and calm.

We no longer give gifts beyond our children and granddaughter, and we don’t buy greeting cards. This isn’t a judgment on how anyone else celebrates, but a choice for simplicity, mindfulness, and ecological responsibility. What matters most to us is communion, being together, sharing presence, and bringing joy into each other’s lives.

Who This Gathering Is For

This day is for:

  • Those who find Christmas stressful, overwhelming, or lonely.

  • People seeking community, shared experience, and mindful connection.

  • Anyone who values reflection, creativity, nature, and rhythm with the seasons.

This day is not for:

  • People looking for a party atmosphere, loud music, or traditional Christmas rituals like big dinners or alcohol-focused celebrations.

The gathering is non-religious with gentle spiritual undertones.

What to Expect

We’ll open the day with a grounding meditation and check in to settle in and connect. There will be opportunities for:

  • Relaxed communal meal - buffet style, with contributions from everyone (homemade or shop-bought, all vegan).

  • Nature connection - optional walk in the local woodland nearby.

  • Co-created creativity and music - jam sessions, art, storytelling, or anything participants feel inspired to share.

  • A cosy, communal, grounding, reflective, creative, and joyful atmosphere.

Our kitchen will be open for anyone who wants to help prepare food, and the day will flow naturally according to the energy and gifts of those present.

We are a vegan and alcohol-free household. Please respect this in any food, drinks, or offerings you bring.
